Country - Israel   Israel
About We were walking towards our car, when we came upon this incospicuous house, 33a' Frischmann Street. Then we saw the sign: "This house was the headquartetrs the "Hagana"- the army of the state in the making, later to become the IDF, Israel Defense Force." A few words of explanation. The word Hagana is usually not known to non-Israelis. Its verbatim translation is: defense. But the organization is usually called the Irgun. Irgun simply means "organization" and can be any sort of organization. Before we bacame a state, there were three fighting oraniztions. The "Hagana", which was under command of the political majortiy, erroneosely know as the Irgun. The Etzel, acronym for "National military organization", which was more radical and the "Lehi" acronym of "Freedon fighters of Israel" who were the most radical. All those, more or less willingly were finally put under the command of the IDF.
The symbol on the upper left of the photo, unfortunately not entirely inside the photo, is that of the "Hagana." The one on the upper right is that of Tel Aviv municipality.
