About A painted lady (Vanessa cardui) soaking up the heat of the early morning sun. Since it was a fairly cool morning I could get quite close before it flew off. This species is perhaps one of the most widespread of all butterflies and can be found on all continents except Australasia and South America.

Thanks Lori - If you look closely, you will see that even the eyes are covered with tightly packed bristle hair - not sure how the see through it - maybe its something like fibre optics - will have to concur with an entemologist. Take care and thanks for your interest in my work.

Superb Macro, Joggie. This Lady has more hair than I do. I love butterfly pics. I can see I'm going to have to go outside earlier with my camera. Cheers, Ann.

I thought from the thumbnail and title that you'd put writing down the wing! I guess I have an overactive imagination.
Another really super macro.
