P.S. work. The writing speakes for itself. The painting on the wall, taken from a different wall in the Arabic retaurant the Peres peace center flyer was hanging, was done by an Arabic painter from Kafr Kassem, now a small Arabic town, about 15 km to the east. His name can be seen in Arabic characters on the lower right of the picture. Kafr Kassem is rememered mainly because in 1956, when Nasser, at that time president of Egypt, nationalized the Suez Channel and first of all closed it for Israeli shipping, Israel was tempted by the British and French to join them and sieze the Channel. There was fear that Arabs living in Israel might act as a fifth column and they were put under curfew. The inhabitants of Kafr Kassem, at that time an agricultural village had not heard about the curfew and about forty of them were killed by our border guard. It was a shameful event, the commander of the border guard was divested of his rank and for quite a few years the border guard were ashamed to be seen in their uniform. Now it seems that the event has been forgiven. I put the picture in the "Hertzelia" portfolio because the restaurant is in Hertzela and in the "Perspective" photo project becuae the picture can be undrerstood only in the perspective of the time that has passed.
Every nation has things in it's past that are shamefull. An image like this helps us to forgive but not forget so we don't repeat our errors. An image greater that sum of it's parts. Great work. Bob
