It was High School graduation in the Reinold home last weekend. The light situation in the venue was not very supportive of photography and they did not allow tripods. Here I tried my long lost skills of long exposure while following the slow moving object. Background is blurred but our son Hendrik, walking in the middle of the group of three graduates in the foreground, seems to be somewhat in focus.
With a class size of 629, it was amazing that the entire ceremony was pulled off in 70 min or so.
Picture details: Aperture: f4.5, shutter: 1/13s, focal length: 70mm, no flash, no tripod.
Thank you, Sheila. I had done many ?follow the objects? pictures on slides in the past, but was a little rusty when I took this one. I love the motion in the shot myself, but I have to admit that the main reason for the ?follow the object? approach was the low light situation in the gym.
Thank you for looking, commenting, and congratulating.
That is a great photo! The blurry graduates seem to be moving one direction, your son and his friends another. All the movement conveyed in an event like that is exhibited in the photo. Excellent! Congratulations to you and your son!
