They look like tent worms. But I don't know if they eat needles. Nasty little things. Mary

Just a guess, but I wonder if it's a spruce bud worm, Larry. Too bad about the tree. We have infestations here of worms and caterpillars every few years that eat our deciduous trees, but they survive and get new leaves eventually. Dave.

The 70-300mm lens acts as a pretty good macro when zoomed at close distances. What you have to be aware of is it becomes fairly low light at full zoom so you must compensate with the camera or a flash. I didn't answer your wide angle question...I have the Nikon kit whuch came with a 18-70mm zoom, a very nice one. The 18mm is extremely useful for photos such as the museum shots I've been posting. Hope this helps

You caught enough worms to catch plenty of fish. At least they could bring some good.

Creepy is right. Spray 'em with Ortho Sevin. That's all I know of horticulture. Good luck, --George

Hungry little critters? Hehehehe..Larry I love the look of this..the shallow DOF, the composition, the colors...Nice! How did you do that with that lens? Do You use a wide angle lens at all? I'm only asking because you have a Nikon as I do, and I'm looking into getting one so that I can get pictures of trees...:) Linda
ps...I like that frame too!
