Hi Maggie ute basically burst into flames as we were driving along, it was pull up jump out utilise extinguisher then step back and snap photos..

This an amazing photo..I am assuming you are a fireman or maybe an arsonist???? (Grin!!!)
The subject is certainly outstanding...and one that is dramatic and catches the eye.
I would love to know why this truck is on fire....is it a news photo???I think cropping it and focusing more on the fire would make the photo more dramatic and powerful..

oh bugger, Greg, I am thinking it's getting a bit hot in your office......? better camera would be a lot of fun but it won't make the slightest difference to the quality of your shots (so says my mentor John Fields and I think he's right) and by the look of things you are going really well with the sony right now so don't despair, I am the dubious and somewhat impoverished owner of thousands of dollars worth of gear and the majority of my shots are real shockers......good fun doing it but! cheers, david.

good one Greg, I suppose your boss thought it was a set-up just so you could get some interesting shots.
I have some shots somewhere of a semi trailer that caught fire in the workshop at work, a brave driver jumped into the prime mover and drove it out into the yard while it was burning - saved the whole workshop from catching fire.

Thanks for comment Amanda, yes my camera is with me most times.. i actually had to grab it out of ute to save it.. we were in it when it ignited, i felt some heat on my arm and whoosh there were flames going up past my window.. twas a fast pull up and exit of flame engulfed vehicle..hehe.. we tried to use fire extinguisher but was useless as was a fuel fire.. saved some paperwork my tools and my camera the rest went up in flames..hehe was a blast..

hi Kel yeah was a work ute.. not mine. not sure what happened it simply burst into flames.. think the fuel line came ajar and sprayed exhaust..we think
