A girl I knew told me that when guys came over her father used to answer the door. Naked.

Jon, best line ever on this was from a movie "I got a gun and a shovel and no one will miss you."
I taught Eli this when she was 4 "When are you going to get married?" "When Daddy dies!"
Also, I tell people, "I have a room with trophy heads... lining my den... there is room for one more (and I look the young man directly in the eye)
Yep, in Illinois we say, "When I had a son I worried about one pee-pee. When I had a daughter I worried about all of them."
Dang girls...

Yes Jon, it is teh cruelest fate to be ignored. I've been beaten, cursed, yelled & screamed at, and ignored. Being ignored is the most painful of them all.

It scares me that somewhere there is a phone like that still hanging on someone's wall.
Good image and very good "about". As the father of daughters I understand this sentiment far more than I would like to. If I wasn't busy putting vegetables in it, I could think of a few other things I'd like to "plant" in my back garden. Grrr.

You may be way too young to know this... but the lyrics say it all. Sometimes we need to just move on.
Operator, oh could you help me place this call You see the number on the matchbook is old and faded She?s livin? in l.a. With my best old ex-friend ray A guy she said she knew well and sometimes hated
Isn?t that the way they say it goes But let?s forget all that And give me the number if you can find it So I can call just to tell them I?m fine and to show I?ve overcome the blow I?ve learned to take it well I only wish my words could just convince myself But that?s not the way it feels
Operator, oh could you help me place this call ?cause I can?t read the number that you just gave me There?s something in my eye?s You know it happens every time I think about the love that i thought would save me
Isn?t that the way they say it goes But let?s forget all that And give me the number if you can find it So I can call just to tell them I?m fine and to show I?ve overcome the blow I?ve learned to take it well I only wish my words could just convince myself That it just wasn?t real But that?s not the way it feels
Operato,r oh let?s forget about this call There?s no one there I really wanted to talk you Thank you for your time Oh you?ve been so much more than kind And you can keep the dime
Isn?t that the way they say it goes But let?s forget all that And give me the number if you can find it So I can call just to tell them I?m fine and to show I?ve overcome the blow I?ve learned to take it well I only wish my words could just convince myself That it just wasn?t real But that?s not the way it feels

very sympathetic treatment for that old phone Mary. gave it a starring role in an early 70's detective series.
