I don't know the full story of how this front loader got burned. I don't know if it was an accident or an act of sabotage. But there is a huge amount of controversy over the development of this land that borders the oldest park in the country, Middlesex Fells outside Boston, so there is a good chance someone torched it.
I added the stencil graffiti to match the title. Hayduke is a character from Edward Abbey's 'Monkey Wrench Gang' book famous for destroying earth moving gear in protest of environmental destruction.
Now everytime I walk my dog and see this, I think of Hayduke, so I thought I would fake the graffiti.
Hayduke Lives! The sequel was definately not as good as MOnkey Wrench gang, but still a decent read. Have you seen the Monkey Wrench gang illustrated by R. Crumb?
I saw the puncture immediately but the fire damage was not obvious - I thought it was just an abandoned truck left to rust away. You need to take this shot on a day which is overcast so that the detail in the damaged area and shadows can be seen.
