Thank you very much for your understanding. I don't think this is a profound problem once one gets past the initial reflexive associations. Afetr that, I quite enjoyed the pitures of these intriguing ritual celebrations. Best regards, --George

Dear George, the things and the fear you mentionend in your reply, did make me hesitate to post this and other pictures of the Semana Santa in spain,i realized that people from the united states might have mixed feelings by seeing these hooded figures, but thank god this has nothing to do with those racist idiots you had in the USA

Bellissima immagine piena di suggestione, anche in Sicilia fanno queste processioni con gli incappucciati.

Intellectually I understand completely. At first glance, though, I am the captive of ugly memories from this country's past--distant and recent--of bands of hooded men meant to terrorize and intimidate. And so I welcome the opportunity to confront these fears and come to terms with the other benign reality that you present in your photos.
I hope that makes some sense. Best wishes, --george

Dear George there is nothing frightening about these nazarenos as they are called,it is their way to remember and celebrate the happenings around the death of christ and his resurrection

Great image if a bit frightening. I will have to find out something of the history of this arcane tradition. Thanks for posting. Good work, --George
