Difficult exposure because of the back lighting..Used fill flash and I bracketed in 1/2 stop intervals. This was the best exposure out of the bunch. I was lucky he sat still for me.
Beautiful shot Bill, I love Night Herons, they remind me of puppys... this was a difficult capture and you pulled it off wonderfully, very well done. congrats.... I have hundreds of shots of these birds, I will included one of my non flying favorites, Its a juvenile. also with fill flash.... Take Care....
Bill, the shot of a lifetime and mother nature isn't playing fair. OH, what if. You have caught this bird in such an excellent position and your use of fill light is perfect, showing off every little detail from the leathery legs, to the soft down of the birds underside. What if, you had a white cloudy, blue sky intermixed with the lucious green of the tree leaves? In my humble opinion you would have a moneymaker. Great job and I'm sorry I rambled on. Your picture definately piqued me:)
