Thanks for the tip Judi.. great idea to focus on something else... will do a bit of experimenting with that in the near future... & hopefully get a nice pic to submit on here from it.

Thanks Sue. The trick is to have it sitting on a black backdrop with no other lights except for the light you are using. In this particular case, the only light source was the wizard itself.

Now turn your camera and focus on something the same distance as your subject, keep the shutter down and then swing the camera to the subject and follow through.

If that makes sense.

Most excellent piece... no photo art? Would love to know where you snapped this shot.. ah.. just read through the comments... You deserve top marks for this picture... very crisp & clear... never an easy thing to do when your shooting glass ornaments.. (well not with my camera anyway... lol)I tried this myself a couple of years ago when I was trying to get a pic for ebay, finally gave up as I was getting too much reflection & not enough clarity of image... This is one for my favourites. Well done.

Biliana.

It is an ornament that I bought for my hubby for christmas. I have been wanting to photograph it for a while and I only got around to it tonight.

It is a solid glass block on a stand. Inside the glass block is a wizard. When you turn it on the wizard lights up and changes colours. The whole ornament is about 10cm tall. So it was very difficult photographing it because of the thickness of the glass distorting the focal area.
