About A wise old owl sat on an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard;
Why aren't we like that wise old bird?
(Edward Hersey Richards)

I finally got a clear shot of him/her this afternoon, I was so excited and she just sat and posed for me.

How fantastic to find this. I bet you were so excited you almost forgot how to work the camera. And on top of everything else, it's such a great composition with those diagonal branches. Magnificent!

Nice Shot Alison.
When they are in the mood, they can put on a good show. They don't seem to be too afraid of humans at times. Visit my portfolio to see a couple of owl shots if you like.

Woohoo! (or should that be Hoo-hoo? :) It was worth the wait to get this great shot, Alison! He even posed with full front light to make sure you caught him in all his glory. I like the background, too - it sets him off nicely! Great capture!

Impressive capture. It would have been nice to see a little closer crop, and to see his eyes. These type of photographs are very difficult to get, you were in the right place at the right time. I haven't seen too many owl pictures, they seem to be elusive.
Very well done.
