Beautiful still life with a message !
Very well composed with the books diagonal direction, the dark cup and the reflection
inside
So we see that we can read a bible in a peaceful hour with a cup of coffee
Because for this perfect composition it was allowed to put the cup for some minutes on this red letter bible :)
Ver very well done !
Regards,
Jan
PS of course congrats for the BIP which was so very well deserved

Hi John,

I picked up this one - not because of the BIP (congrats on that one anyway), but because of the simple and bold look. I like this technique a lot =)

the reflections, the semi-transparent shadows and the overall composing is really good. Stresses the old idea of not getting too far away for subjects ;-) (actually, the best subjects are @home).

so congrats on that one.

Wow, congrats with the BIP John
Well worked out shot, the ear of the cup is dominant, as is its shadow (exposure on that shadow is the only minus point here, too dark imho).. the text peeping through makes one curious to read what's there .. the Bible ..
Great work !
Peter

I like this composition very much John, I'm always trying to put a animal into a circular tree branch or the moon into a cut out of a rock but I have never even thought about doing a abstract such as this.
The clarity is great and I also like the reflections on the cup.
Great composition.
ps I like the shadow as well.

very nice. The width of the shadow from the cup being narrowed by the angle and curve of the pages a real nice trick. great circling job by the eye of the cup handle as well.
