About The 20D isn't the best choice for IR ... I had to give it a try, though ;-) 20sec at ISO800 ... that was a hard one.
But the noise is a result of the JPG compression, the original image is smooth and sharp.
Oh, btw ... I used a Hoya R72.

Have fun with IR, but keep in mind, that it's not easy with a 20D ... don't get frustrated, when the first tries don't come out as expected. You'll need an intensive sun without any wind, because exposure times are often around 20-30 seconds at ISO400-800.
Always shoot in RAW and do a levels adjustment for each color channel separately in Photoshop, but beware of banding and high noise in the blue channel.

Happy testing
Chris

Ok, danke schön für deine ganze Hinweise... Ich werde die Hoya R72 Filter einkaufen und alles probieren.
Gruss aus der Schweiz.

Hi Guapo,

my 20D is not modified ... have a look at the exposure time ;-) But it is important to use in-camera custom white balance and to overexpose by 5-7 f-stops depending on the lighting conditions, which is needed, because the metering doesn't work correctly in IR. On the other hand the autofocus works fine.

The 20D is a bad choice for IR, but it can give nice results though ... but it's hard work.

Greetings from Germany

Hi! I have a 20D and would like to try IR photography, but I know that in the 20D there is A IR filter which is blocking most of IR. Have you removed this filter to your 20D before shooting those IR picture or have you made it without any modification of the camera?

Thanx
Olivier

Thanks Margaret,

I'm not absolutely satisfied with the colors ... I would prefer a bit less magenta in the plants, a more blueish tone. Maybe next time ;-)

Thanks Zeev and Peter!

@Peter: Thanks for the tip ... I already tried everything to de-noise while avoiding to loose detail ... the upload limit is too small for high quality IRs.

Don't think the noise is disturbing.
A trick to soften this is to duplicate the background layer, add Gaussian blur (radius 5), and then Multiply this layer with the background, then choose the preferred opacity ..

Your toning is very nice, composition very balanced .. really a good try !!
