About A composite of 2 frames - hand stitched. This area was ravaged by fire 25 years ago - as seen in the dead tree trunks - the alpine lakeshore is slowly recovering - over the next few days I will upload 4 more images from an overnight wilderness walk here. This is my campsite

David, I understand yours words about "here" and appreciate such property of panoramic shots.
But I believe that general principles of composition are valid in this case also.
In yours case you used only 2 shots and disbalance between left and right parts is quite evident, imho.
There is only one excepion from composition principles - when you documented situation (view) around you. If this is a fine photo, these priniciples must be taken into consideration.
Of course, this is my imho only:)

Regards,
Serge

Hi Serge, I see your point - what you ahve to consider is the nature of a panorama. I see a panorama as a means of depicting a sense of "the place" - It's a little hard for me to explain but I ahve always felt that a panorama composition defeats the traditional "rule of thirds" for composition. I think waht I am trying to say is - This panorama shows t\you what it is like "here" - your crop might make more sense technically - but it loses the sense of the place. I do thank you for taking the time to comment. I hope you look at the other images from my trip - I am showing of Tasmania - not my photographic skills :-)

Hill from the left looks a little bit too large in comparison with right part of the shot.
