About A rare shot of Toddlerus Energeticus in a rare moment of non-motion. Scanned from a 5 x7 print. I think that the highlights are a bit more blown than I would have liked. Anyone care to suggest ways of dealing with this in the darkroom (eg., filtration?) Is it possible to burn in highlighted areas in odd locations on the print like this?

Sweet portrait! I would definitely give it a try to burn in the highlights - the negative has a larger dynamic range than the print, so I think you have a good chance of getting more details in the child's face.
