I have read a little bit about long exposures for Astronomy photography. Something called amp glow shows up on some sensors. The band shows up more easily on you darker shots. I use a Viewsonic CRT monitor that I have set slightly darker to match my output inkjet prints. I have noticed that the Kodak sensor seems to have a higher signal to noise ratio compared to some of the smaller sensor sized DSLR's, which is surprising. Will let you knowif I come across any info on this. Cheers John

Heaps of photographic potential here Rog.Love your composition. I don't mean to alarm you but the sensor on you camera has a problem. It's more noticable on your darker, longer exposure shots but I can see it here as well.It shows up as a magenta band going from the top left on this pic diagonally down to just about the "C" in your copyright word.
If you add a duplicate layer to your darker work and change the blend mode to screen and then dup that layer again, three or four times, this band shows up.
I have seen banding in very long exposures on the D70 but not to such an extent as visible on the Kojack.
Regards John

Well, I love the photo, but your about is over my head. Are these the trees that slapped Dorothy's hand when she tried to eat an apple in the wizard of oz? Oh I think I'm having an ADD moment. :) Dottie
