Actually, yes I am a cyclist, assuming you consider a commuter a cyclist. I commute to work/school every day on the bike and I love every minute of it. Thanks for the comments.

I love this shot. I don't necessarily mind the flatness, but the work done by Michael makes it a very very nice shot instead of a very nice shot.
Keep up the good work Reza! Thanks for your comments on my photos.
Are you a cyclist yourself? Cheers, Marc

Thanks for your suggestions, Michael. Since posting this, I have learned a lot about balancing B&W tones in PS. I have remixed this image myself but have neglected to post it. I appreciate your critique.

Reza:
Strong work for your age - you are progressing quickly, and I'm glad that you are able to get your hands on a really solid camera.
For this photo - a few things
Shooting:
Get closer to the tree and lower to the ground, going as wide as you can. When you shoot landscapes, especially nature shots, you want to make as sharp an image as possible showing foreground detail recessing into a beautiful background. Check out Patrick: http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/35468.html
The other thing I would say is that you put the tree down the middle of the photo which is a bit static. You can look up the rule of thirds, but really it just means achieving balance without using the vertical or horizontal center.
Processing: Since you are a bit younger, I'd say now is the time to get your hands on an education version of Adobe Photoshop. I've hit your photo with some quick work. Keep in mind that a color to BW conversion will need to be rebalanced for dark and light tones. For a free software program to mess with download Picasa 2 from google if you have a PC.
These should give you some ideas. I have some other people in my friends list that you could start watching if you are really interested in landscapes.

This is a great shot, Reza! I really like this landscape, and the tree is really interesting. I do agree that it is a tad flat, maybe some slight adjustments would really bring out some detail!

Hi Reza, Great view in this one. Good eye - to see this and pause to get the shot. For me, I would like to see more dynamic range in the tones - it is a bit flat to me. It is begging for a levels / curves layer (in PS). Thanks for the image of the southwest. Cheers! Sam

Great picture. I like the grey tones but maybe just a tick on the dark side.
