Hi Taran,
Yeah, HK is great.... Haven't actually lived there, but I do get the chance of visiting regularly.... Around december / january is a great time to be there; found it too hot and stuffy in July... But a great city and skyline indeed....
Cheers,
Hugo

It's by far the greatest cityscape on earth, no matter what anyone says. The best pictures are during the chinese new year, where they throw up all those fireworks in the middle of the harbor. Thanks for sharing your HK memories, I miss the place so much (lived there for 12 years).
cheers, t

Hi Hugo, Lot of thanks for commenting me. It's my first steps in Usefilm forum, and you are the third person who comment me. Your piture: 'A good view...' is beautiful one and many people like me will love it. Excellent composition. The colors and their reflection in the water give the main tone and lets the picture to flow to both sides. From this moment imagination starts on. Best regards, uri.

Hugo thanks for the comment on Sierra Nevada...this is as you say, a postcard, a very good one at that. Love the "color band" on the water. Could well have said "Merry Christmas from Hong Kong" Definitely have to use the wedge trick as I have seen many a night shot and said " dang, forgot my tripod"...Thanks.

13 in a dozen, you must be joking Hugo. Most impresive harbour scene of the world. Been there a few years ago, the view from Kowloon is highly addictive, tell you the truth I watched it every evening. When it's getting darker and all those lights are coming to life people around you are becoming very quiet. Peaceful after a rush day in Hong Kong.
Great city if you like to take photographs ;) Groet John

Hi Tom, shoving the camera and wedging it to something rigid works very well, it saves me carrying a tripod... Besides, the tripods I own are to flimsy to be of any real use. I find this wedging method very useful, and eventhough it limits the choice of view points at times, there's always something nearby to wedge the camera against...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Verena, I thought of that suggestion / compostion, but decided against it, as I noticed many shots that emphasise the reflection have the horizon interesecting with the horizontal centerline (~1:2 division of the frame). As you know, I always notice those things, and although it is a very useful and balanced option, it's not something that I think is ideal. Still, my solution makes it more of a post card than anything else.
As always, I appreciate your honest opinion, thanks!
Cheers,
Hugo

like the visible details of the night city here; the light balance is good and exposition seems to be correct so there are no strong points of light from one side and the dark places from the other which makes this picture really interesting, Hugo; like also the colorful reflections on the water - they make a natural path to the city and smoothly leads my eyes there; anyway, good work regards Lukasz

hugo, this is amazing! incredibly sharp for this type of shot. remember my san diego shots? :^) i hardly ever leave home sans tripod, as you know, but i'll have to remember this trick. love the way the blue color from the lights at the top of the buildings is diffused by the mist. interesting too how the lights on the mountain form a nice little outline in the background. i gotta try this again.... well done!
take care, tom

A seaside free amusement,, a colourful reflection night shot and you did manage to show perfectly the towers shape and the neon lights decoration on the building facades clearly ..Lucky enough not to degrade the sky, as the reflection is limited on the central water surface the main attraction is the skyscrapers. I found it creative and an eye catcher night shot. Saeed

there may be several versions, but this is the first one which I saw...to be honest I'm not a big fan of night skyscraper...to take the part out of it which I like...it is the four colour reflection band on the water...for sure it doesn't work out as a detail shot ;)
a personal suggestion, cropping a lot of the dark sky...would highlight the water reflection...
Cheers, Verena
