About
a historic present from Mother Nature
For most of you, this is a "nothing" picture.
For Houston residents, this is a big and excited event: WHITE CHRISTMAS for a city at latitude 29? 58' North of Equator and longitude 95? 21' West of Greenwich.
The Houston Chronicle reported on Page One of its issue dated December 25th, 2004 that some residents have cried to have a touch on real snow and a white X'mas. The flurries represented the first trace of snow reported in Houston since Dec. 17, 1996, and the first in recorded history on Christmas Eve. This was a special treat for kids who had never seen the white stuff falling in their back yard.
"Weather forecast" kept updating on the potential snow since 10 days in advance but no one dares to believe until the evening of December 24th.
