About Was I lucky to catch this!

I left my house yesterday to run some errands, fortunately I forgot my ID at home and had to run back. That is when I saw this MASSIVE, strange looking cloud! I grabbed my camera as I grabbed my ID. I was on my way to the post office when I stopped to snap a few photos.... only to find out MY BATTERIES WERE DEAD!! OH NO!! Fortunately there was a gas station right there. I, literally, RAN in and out of the store since the sun was setting and I knew it would be dark SOON. I snapped what I could, then realized it was 5 O'clock and I needed to get to the post office before it closed!! Oops! LOL

No PSP work done here except adding the border.

That would be neat, Richard! I wonder how many others are in the Kern County area. I could use some teaching from some pros ;o)

Thanks for commenting!

Greetings from Bakersfield!

You have a good eye for the minimalist landscape. The sillhouetted hills anchor the image with an interesting form to counter the blazing sky.

I come up there often to shoot gliders. Thanks for calling attention to your location. Maybe we can find other usefilm people in the area and get together for a photo shoot sometime (after the holidays).

What do you think?

I don't know what caused it, Peter, but it was pretty incredible. I don't think the photos do it justice, my lense just wasn't wide enough to really capture it! The clouds were changing colors by the minute as the sun was setting, it was pretty amazing!

Thanks, everyone, for commenting! I really wish I had a BETTER camera to capture these things!

Awesome series of these clouds .. these must be caused by airmasses moving over the mountains over there ? .. Nice story too, very recognisable .. flat battery on the moment of truth ..

Another excellent sunset. The addition of the landscape is really effective. Very well done :)
