Greg that would all be the skill of Salvador Dali, if you reverse the image you'll see his signature by her ear.
"some sort of cryptic meaning " and "keen to know what it is" would be EXACTLY what the surrealists would want to hear. I've just stuck a slide of one of his works that I saw at his home town museum he dedicated to himself, I couldn't work it out at all but it's beautiful and I had to take a shot. It's on top of a slide of Aphrodite I think from a Museum in Barcelona.
