You may well be right, John. I used to be so proud of my steady hands... used to belong to a 22 rifle club. But I guess the hands became unsteady at about the time the eyesight declined. I still prefer growing old to the alternative, though!

More likely camera shake, I find if I have been walking briskly I have to stand for a moment to let the heart rate slow to avoid this!! Its sadly an age thing.

Richard, Japan is a whole bundle of contradictions. The raised bricks you noticed are actually to give your feet purchase on the rather steep slope, so they don't shoot from under you when it's iced up. We have ice and snow, too, you know, though not nearly as much in Tokyo as they do up north!

This is quite a different aspect of my impression of Japanese life as consisting of constant motion and frenetic activity in close quarters. Thank you for showing me the quiet and solitude, too. I am not one to appreciate over-sharpening, so this looks just fine to me. And it's not a cell phone picture. I like the leading line into the image and the apparent perspective renfering. The raised paving bricks look designed to pitch a person headfirst into the water!

The focus doesn't look to bad to me, Roger, and you've dealt with the extremes of light and sahde very well. Best regards, Chris
