Antonella (and Tony)--I checked my data on the original shot and find it was taken at iso 1600! I changed the "About" section to account for this. In this case, I thought the noise was apt for the rather old-fashioned look of the subject--or maybe I was just too lazy to adjust the effect. I do have a nice program called NeatImage that does a good job (See attached) but is a bit clumsy to use. I would be delighted to hear about the program you mention. Thanks for your interest. You do seem to be using your digital cameras a lot these days. Hope you are enjoying them! Best wishes, --george

Great capture of the lady, could you please tell me if the graininess was intentional or due to the high ISO speed? My Canon 10 D does deliver a lot of noise over 400 ISO, compared to my Nikons which are good even at 800 and have a noise reduction option in the menu. Let me know if you need a software for removing the noise, I will send you the link if you're interested, there is a free version which works beautifully. Hugs, Antonella
