Pat, We seem to be running some telepathy here. Here's a copy of a post of mine from a few weeks ago. It was titled "Is She Looking at Us?" Dottie

Pat, thanks very much for the information you provided!
Your version of the Oxbow Lake is far stronger than my original post. The pano view really works well. I don't have a lot of opportunities for great landscape shots, but I will try to incorporate your techniques next time I shoot something like that. Thanks!!

Mary:
Thank you for your comment. I do crop my photos to get the panoramic frame. For some reason I like that aspect ratio. It really works good with wide angle landscape shots.
I shoot on film and have started using Professional slide film exclusivly. I think really adds to the quality of the photo. Also, In photoshop I will sometimes copy the frame and paste it to a new layer, blur that layer maybe tweak the levels abit and then play with the different blending options until I find something I like. this will sometimes really bring out alot of detail or color or produce a dreamy look.
Then I select the entire frame and then remove the subject area with the marquee tool's subtract function with lots of feathering. then adjust levels (slightly) to give a slight vinetting effect. I do not allways use all these thechniques and sometimes I do none of this.
I played a bit with one of yours, (hope you don't mind)

Love the warm colors.
I can't quite figure out what it is about your images that give them that other-worldly feel. I shoot with a 70-300 lens, and have never achieved anything close.
What kind of post processing are you doing? Are these images cropped into pano or are they stitched?
Do tell!!

Love it! Love horse shots. To me this looks like a picture post card. Very great colors in all.

Now that's a thickset horse. Good rural colours.
