These huge flowers hang their heads obstinately downwards, staring at the ground to which they eventually fall. I liked the contrast between their deep yellow and the grimy concrete blocks of the wall behind them--and the bright green of their foliage.
Peter: thanks for giving me the name. I hadn't a clue. These flowers are quite rare in Japan, I've only seen them two or three times in nearly 40 years!
The sharpness and detail are really amazing on this "phone picture". Of course, it is a Sharp!

Well, Roger, I usually trust the matrix metering and the tonal range captured by the D70. But, I will admit to some post processing on this one because of the extreme range of tones.
