About This is Canada's newest coin, issued to commemorate those killed in combat for this Remembrance Day, 11 November. This is believed to be the only two colour coin, apart from bi-metal, in the world. They were made at the mint in Winnipeg which you've seen in a prior submission.
Unfortunately the dye will rub off with usage as can be seen in some of the coins. They are a limited issue of approximately 30 million coins, one for each citizen of Canada. They are the first coin to be issued through a retail outlet, Canada's national institution, Tim Horton's Doughnuts, before being released to the banks! The Legion is also distributing them.
Taken in ambient window light with tripod.

I've already commented on this photo. Now, your camera being a Fuji Finepix S5000, I'ld like you to see if you have a double exposure capcity on it.Look for it in the manuel. In my manuel (Finepix s7000) it does appear, but without instructions on how to perform it. I had to find it out the hard way, as nobody, including Fuji professioanals could advise me. Here is the way to do it: Put the camera in the taking photos position, in either p, s a or manuel. Press the menu/ok button and start going to the right. If you have no multiple exposure, that's it. If you have it, put it on and OK it. Take your first photo, then your next. Between photos don't press the OK button. After the first exposure you'll see an arrow poiting right. Press the ring surrounding the menu/ok button to the right and take your second photo. From here you can go on the same way, or see a little sand-clock. Wait for it to empty and press the OK button. You now have two or more photos overlayed upon each other. You can either bracket before taking the first photo, to minimize light, or set the lighting later on your computer.
Good luck,
Rafi

I heard about these coins when I went to the mint in Ottawa. They told me that they would start to make them in November and that it's the first circulation coin with color.

Unfortuately, this day is kind of washed over with only the "older" generation truly remembering and honoring. Beautiful image Dave. You must be proud of your country's effort to do something lasting. Must thank you also for taking the time to view and comment on my latest. Regards--Bill Voizin

The dye might rub off, but the memory of the dead won't. We have our dead too, hopefully now that Arafat is gone perhaps less. We commemorate them by standing at attention wherever we might be for one minute, one day to commemorate those perished in the Holocaust and another for those killed in action. For those killed in car accidents, who outnumber those killed in action, there is no commemoration.
Thanks for sharing this photo and thanks for commenting on my "Red" series. As all of the red ones were poppies, I think they might fit the moment.
Best regards,
Rafi

Thanks for the comment, John! The center is actually a dye, and unfortunately will wear off as the coins get used, although I suspect most of them will stay in the hands of collectors.
Dave.
