About This is a re-post of an earlier photo, but Rebecca got me to thinking about bringing the saturation down on the shot. She'd asked if I'd consider a B&W version, and, after some thought, decided she was right. sort of.

Given the subdued tones of the weathered bronze model in the courtyard, I decided to instead give it emphasis by desaturating the background (the real model) by about 80%.

So, how often in our lives do we confuse the 'model' with the 'real thing'; the map for the terrain?

Thoughts and feedback appreciated, gang!

Hi Paul, Very creative shot. The DOF adds alot of tension to this one; the maquette tells the story, the background hinting at reality. The reduced saturation is nice, as it creates a more sullen atmosphere. In all fairness, I do like the more saturated version too; maybe even more so. The nature of the subject is not affected by the change in atmosphere, I think. On the other hand, comparing the two, the maquette is slightly more pronounced in this version. Intriguing shot!

Cheers,

Hugo
