Great dark tones contrasting nicely with the white of the gull. A befitting about to his staunch pose. (I rarely think to check my friend's list and had I, would have added you sooner and not have had to wait so long for your wonderful photos)

He sure does look like a tough guy. Is his name Rudy? Guido? Does he live in Chicago? :-)
On the subject of composition, I must comment on having all the "blank" space above and below this guy. I think if you were to crop closer in, you could adjust the white tones so they're not so blown out and will show more detail.
However, that said, I love the character projected in this "boid wid additude!"
