About Kollah, a traditional pottery water flask that keeps water cool by loosing water (sweating) through it's porous wall, it's made of a special type of clay, and it's widely used by the poor people in Egypt.
The shot was taken in "Bab Zowailah", in old Cairo city.

Great composition of the pottery. Nice tonal ranges in the black and white.

Very beautifull. Pottery is an worldwide art...since memorial times. We have (still) abundant water in Brazil, but water keeping pottery is also a traditional art.

Thanks for sharing this, both the photo, wich I love, and the "about". I think this is one of the best things about photography: we can learn a lot about other people, other regions of the planet, other ways of living. Good job!

Thanx Ran for your comment. Water is God's blessing to mankind, about 60% of our body is made of water, that's why we can live without food up to a week, but without water one can not live more than a couple of days and then dies....Best regards.

Great shot, and great info about it. Amazing how water can be such a rare thing in one place on earth and so abundent on others....
