Nice one, Thilo. Good decision to place him such that he can jump "into" the picture.

Dear Gayle, thank you very much for your elaborate comment. In fact, this was my first macro session at all and I was glad to get a hopper such prominent ;-) next time, I will definitely take care of such things like overexposure. I probably will observe creatures who are not as nervous as this guy. Was a pain to get pictures at all ;-) really appreciate your advice! take care, thilo

Hi Uwe,

Dear Peter, thanks for the constructive comment. As for the shutter speed: I really had to take care to get the grasshopper captured. So I choose a very fast shutter speed here. I spent a lot of pictures until I get what I wanted ;-) take care, Thilo

Thilo,i know you are only testing lens but i have to say that in my opinion the hopper's face/head/one antenna and one leg is overexposed and a diffuser of some sort used from where light hits him would greatly help..in the field it is difficult to have on hand everything you may need and of course he could move very quickly so you shoot quickly...perhaps there is a PS tool for correction? (i don't have Photoshop)maybe not tho'since there would be an absence of pixels...natural comp is good and DOF is good..best regards, gayle

go ahead, jump!
vg, uwe

Good photograph, beautiful green colors and a good composition. Why do you use sutch high shutterspeed and low f number????You could have more DOF with a higher f number
