Front sides of a quadratic bldg. perhaps?..LOL..great perspective and love the blue tone..clarity is very good..nice sky contrast..question: i have a shot of a pinkish bldg.with reflective panels and when i resize to critique only limits which is 640 pixels max, i get these major crosshatches which look like i have done some PS work which i haven't..i will upload for you as attachment if ok with you?..regards,gayle

Hi Angelo,
ah... actually, the toning itself is not so difficult. Enclosed you will the original shot.
- change picture from RGB to grey scales, then back to RGB. - switch to color balance (STRG +B) - cyan -16, green +16, blue +46 => that's the toning itself after that I did a lot in the layer parts. multiplying, soft lighting with a high key filter, working separate on the sky and the tower etc. hope that helps. take care, Thilo

Very nice! I like how the reflections on the windows melt the clouds and the builing together. Good toning! Nice job! C.

Really like this type of shot, not boring at all. The toning is really great, too. Any tips in this area?

Thilo, I just think that the two subjects..the sky and the building, seem to be competing for power and space. They are both so strong. Perhaps I would be less critical if one was allowed to dominate the image. Or perhaps I have no idea what I'm talking about, and I should just shut up ;-) ..Brad

Dear Hugo,
thanks for the constructive and elaborate words. you're probably right about the static issue. but it's not an easy to task to bring some dynamics in here. I hoped that the reflections add some tension and clear up the symmetry a bit. as for the distorsion: I think it come from the angle and the place I photographed. It's not a perfect symmetry here I should work on this in PS. thanks for the notes. take care, THilo

Hi Thilo, don't stop to bore me....;o) My guess would be the two faces of a building.... Nice toning too. I think it does serve a purpose here. The composition is a bit static here, and not completely balanced. The reflections and the clouds are beautiful, though. It looks llike the center edge in the building (vertical) is a bit crooked. Is this a result of zooming out? (wide angle distortion), or is it a deception of the eye?
Cheers,
Hugo

Another super architecture one of yours! The toning and the sky are just fantastic! From the angle I would say it's a roof top.

Beautiful Thilo. I think you and I are drawn to some similar things. I think the toning here is effective. It helps break down the architecture into pure geometry.
