About The storm clouds are gathering, and the wind is a welcome at this point. The public works crews were busy, removing picnic tables and trash receptacles off the Venice Jetty, and very few people were out. Most are doing their shopping, and preparing for the possibility of loss of electricity, flooding or evacuation. I am ready, emergency bag is packed...plenty of fresh water..camera equipment ready...and now I join the rest of Florida and wait. Shutter speed..1/320...Aperture...10.0

Hi Glenn...I am so happy you escaped most of the damage. I was down that way last week, and could not believe my eyes..I thought of you and your wife, and prayed that you would find things as you left them before your trip...welcome back...Gloria

The water looks so beautiful here, Gloria! Thanks for sharing the disastrous scenes after Bonnie/Charley. One who has never been even close to a hurricane can?t imagine how it really is! God bless you all!

Magnificent, restless seascape. Beautiful, even with all it's fury. This image jumped out to me as I looked at this page. Great composition, colors and detail. You've captured the moment and feeling well. Thanks so much for stopping to comment on mine.. You have some lovely images in your portfolio, which I plan to look into fully! Regards, Rebecca

Thank you Margaret, and yes it is hard to believe what would follow on the next day. I took this photo about 10 AM...and by 2:00 PM on the same day, I was being evacuated. This particular part of Venice is on an island, and all the residents and tourists were told to evacuate. At one point the eye of the storm was heading for this area, but at the last moment it changed paths..and did absolutely total devastation to a very old and historiacal little town south of Venice.

Lol Susan...we think alike, I also thought it would have been nice to have Charlie be Clyde!!Definitly a missed opportunity...I was fortunate, although I was evacuated, I returned this morning, and my home is fine. It is not so for the folks just twenty five minutes away...a lot of devastation..and they are saying loss of life....Gloria

Better you master the storm than the storm masters you!

Good luck with Charley. Let us know how it goes. (IMO, Charley should have been named Clyde.) Hope you got some more storm shots.

Magnifica perspectiva. La textura del mar embravecido es excelente. Hecho de menos un poco mas de contraste y saturacion en el cielo. Por lo demás , un excelente trabajo. (espero que no llegaras a mojarte...)

Saludos desde Bilbao

This isn't the kind of photos I had in mind for the beach patrol. Lets hope Bonnie weakens and Charlie stays south.

Batten down the hatches Gloria. Hope everything is OK for you. The run up to the storm has given us in calmer climes a wonderful image to view.
Regards
Den & Margaret (we're sitting viewing together)
