About I went to Wells today ? what a brilliant little city it is!! It just drips with history and oozes charm.

First I set about my assignment ~ photographing themassive cathedral organ. No easy task, I can tell you!! Then I had a cup of coffee and an extraordinarily jammy donut! Yummmmmm.

Then I walked right around the cathedral and moat. Fabulous! Even though it's not at its absolute best at this time of year.

Finished up by buying a couple of Cornish Pasties for lunch from an award-winning pastie shop! Double yum!! (One for me and one for Mrs. S., you understand!!)

More pictures to follow. I hope you like this one for starters!!

Best regards to all, Chris

P.S. Yes, it IS a 'Spracklen sky'!! :-))

It's an impressive facade... Did you have to get permission for your interior shots with tripod? You will eventually notice that in a reply to one of your comments I asked for help in learning how to drop in a sky... Please don't collapse with shock! I thought I'd try it with my "Thread Waterfalls" shot.

Hi Chris, I do remember this cathedral from my art classes.... Amazing architecture. We used to get out at night and "study" the details and the elaborate sculptures.

Very good shot. Thanks for sharing and reminding me...)

Cheers,

Hugo

Great detail. I like the positioning of the people. They also give it scale.
Glad you had a nice day!

Chris, I have NO DOUBT but that your photos will do it justice. Well...as much as any camera possible can. Think this is one of those places you have to see 'in person'!!

lol - my wife did some choir practice at the local church this evening and also some more piano tutoring (she plays at the local church too !). I've been at home trying to stop the two kiddies from killing each other - and instead my youngest beat me at table tennis ..... cruel world lol
I'm orf to bed now - thanks again Chris for all your help :-)

You're right, Lori ~ I mean, it is an incredible structure!! Vast and magnificent, can you ever imagine designing such a thing or laying the first bit of stone!!

The inside is breath-taking. Cavernous and spectacular! i just hope my little pictures go some way to showing off its true splendour!!

Best regards, Chris

Dead right, Stephen!! I did two pastoral visits this evening and they took three and a half hours between them!! I'm pretty tired but there's no way I could sleep just yet!!

A 'moat'?? They really aren't just in fairy tales? (I'm picturing dragons now...)

This is great...first off though, I had to check out those 'embedded statues' just to make sure you didn't slip yourself in one...nope, they all look legitimate! LOL

This is really quite the place to see, I can't visualize how incredible the inside must be...
I'm looking forward to seeing MORE!
Lori ;)
