Magnificent, Lori! I love the way you composed this, looking through the ship's rigging!! A masterpiece ~ would look good in oils!! Kind regards, Chris

Great angle shot, I do agree it might be better B&W image. Though it?s your decision first, wonderful image and presentation. Saeed

Hi Lori, I think you're right. Sepia is even a better choice, the B&W does look rather flat. Channel editing is one thing, but also toying around with the dodge brush could revive the contrasts a bit. I did work on that a bit, but maybe not enough.... I'd like to see that Sepia version of yours someday too. Removing the red from the image is not a bad thing though, even though it's a rather dark shade of red, it's almost the only recoginisable hue in the original version, and attracts quite some attention (maybe that's what makes the B&W version flat, but that also applies to Sepia....)
Cheers,
Hugo

Not sure about this Hugo...To me this looks flatter, maybe sepia would work better...not enough lights and darks in this black and white... working in individual channels could help that though...I still think just more sepia on the original...(smile)!! Lori :)

Hi Hugo, Your black and white version didn't make it here! Glad you liked this image, I did some sepia on it, just not a lot. I didn't try the b&w, I'll check yours out if you are able to upload it. :)

This is another good one in the series of ships. I like viewing the square rigger through the foreground rigging. Some will take issue with the dark area at the bottom, but there's just eneough color and form to make it interesting and suggest something is there.

Hi Lori, Great shot. Talking about B&W, I think this might be a very good candidate....) Why? Well, I think it's a bit softer than the previous one, and the use of colour is less essential than in that one. In B&W, I think the softness would create a more timeless atmosphere.
Very good composition. I like the view through the ropes and the various levels and soft details in the subjects. Good capture.
Attached a B&W version. I also dodged the ropes of the ship in front a bit, trying to revive some of the contrasts there. What do you think?
Cheers,
hugo
