The little K on the left didn't transpose particularly elegantly.
Great to get an artifact and an ancient artizans chizel lines to look at. The words are all greek to me.

Very thoughtful "a la Umberto Eco". In this rather dark image, the light glow is captivating and corresponds perfeclty with the sense of mystery.
I think I would have liked a wider image better.

Hi Hugo,
I like this photo. I read that many people didn't like the blur. Well it makes me look more to the sharp parts of the photo. I specialy like the bubble at the lower center. It looks so nice, it has a 3D feeling. Very good work my friend!!

Another excellent idea for this creation. I like the combination of themes and I like the warm tone.
The local heavy blur give some abstractisme to the image making it less fit than your first submission to express the concept of the title. IMO. However... I like it a lot and definitely not less the first in this interesting series. As you said, it leaves more to the imagination of the viewer, which is a great thing.

I had to answer you (Fast Freight, blurry image). You were the only one who noticed the cloning in the foreground. I had a bet with myself that you would!

Hi Hugo,a totally different effect here,I do like the sharp and blurred parts,especailly the drop,and the contrast between light and dark parts.Difficult task here...at the first view,I found this one more attractive ,in my opinion.

Hi Hugo! In general, I think that most of the frames take too much attention and very often I think they "steal" energy from a picture. Especially when you have a strong image with a lot of tention (like this one), why don't you let it pop out from a black or white background? On you blue one it's better, but again I don't think it adds anything to that image. Just my two Cents, though. Cheers! Carlheinz

Another successful blend, I like especially the view through the burnt hole. I also prefer this image above the previous one - the writing is more abstract, less recognizable (more incomprehensible?) but that is just a matter personal taste, I believe. I am curious of the concluding image :)

Hi Thilo, thanks again for your elaborate comment. Interesting though: downscaling the blurry stream.... That may well be the thing I overlooked, the relative scale of the two photos is a bit off. As to it's importance, I don't quite agree. The way I look at it, the massive dark red stream creates a large part of the massive, devilish atmosphere.
I do fully agree on the frame. As I replied to neil, the PC screen was the only lightsource present when I composed this one. When I had another look the next day, it looked off to me too.
There's one more to come, and then I'm moving on to the blurry images project... )

The hole that reveals a better definition in the lower right part of the shot is in pleasant contrast with the remaining part of the shot an is a must that add vitality to a very beautiful and warm composition. Congrats!

I'm always late with commenting on your works, so I hope I find something interesting for you ;-)
first impression in the thumb: color. red. massive. devilish. when the picture opens in full view, the color stands in the background for me. the diagonal "blur" separator attracts my eye, and only with the help of the original images, I understand it. I like the upper right corner, the sharp part... and then there is this massive separator... hmmh. not sure if it's not better to shrink this part. it's very dominant but not so imporant, is it?
I like the water drop and the sharp text shining through. the only opaque part that I found a bit distracting is the "SK" on the left. the outlines are too harsh, you may blur the edges with a blur tool.
as for framing: I just don't like the color. I agree with Calle that it consumes some part of the tension.
conclusion: It would be too easy to say that the first part is better. it's different. the PS rework seems to be more challenging in this part. And the color is very powerful here - and more powerful than the color in the first installment.
great work, Hugo. Hope to see more of this stuff.

Hi Neil, Good call, the unfriendly atmosphere was something I felt like creating when I couldn't sleep last night. With my monitor as the only lightsourse, the image turned out darker than anticipated, but as you rightfully mention, the deep red tone also assists in creating that look. And yes, the white lettering on the ancient tablet makes even more ghastly.
Last, I agree, this is not to be considered "photography" anymore. I did try it as an experiment, and I'm quite sure this will not be my new "standard" style. I'll keep it to plain, virtually untouched photos for the time being.
Thanks for your sincere comment, very much appreciated. I find it very intriguing why the two images attract such a different reaction; the first quite positive, this one much less so. And I have to admit, that doesn't surprise me, I pushed the limit deliberately, but I think I went over it this time....)

Hi Hugo, i can't make friends with this one like the last one :( I think due to the sombre, dustre colours used. I think it is accentuated by the 'negative' lettering and the frame. Still a nice experiment although i think it is unusual for you to do so much PS work :). You once so wrote to me something along the lines of... "be careful or it's not a photo anymore" so be careful :)

Hi Maria, Voicing your feelings is always appreciated! I tend to use a very large aperture and create a very shallow DOF, and that's probably what happened here. See also my reply to Lori, as she also fell over the same thing... Thanks for pointing it out!

Hi Jon, I use PS 7 most of the time, 5 is ok too, only a bit more limited. With digital photography I hear Photoshop CS has a good interface and capabilities in handling (and tweaking) NEF files, so I'm thinking of upgrading to Photoshop CS. To recommend a version to get you started is difficult, as it's a fairly expensive programm and it would be a waste if you invested in a program that you don't like... I think you can download a trial version from Adobe, and that might be a good start to get you going. Then, if you like it, you might decide to buy a version. In that case, I would only settle for the newest. I'm not sure what PS lite (or whatever they call it) offers, though.

Hi Carlheinz, Thanks for your comment. About the frame, did you get the same feeling with the previous one? It is the same frame, only different saturation, hue and brightness. When I saw this one for a second time today, it started bugging me too. I only wonder if it's the frame as a whole or the change of tone, etc... So what do you suggest? no frame?

Nice! Heavy photoshopping! I like the result and especially the atmosphere you've created. I'm struggling with the color, but this might be a thing of personal taste. I would see a warm yellow/red touch on a B&W. The frame doesn't work for me; it takes to much attention IMHO but admit that I have trouble with most of the frames I see here. Good work! C.

I like the idea behind the invention.. the colour fit perfectly as of old style,, but I prefer the previous one, may be it is too close in the frame work, and not so much written details appearance, also to me ,should be the two image of more displacement, here almost overlapping, though of original and new subject, I like it.Saeed

I like very much this one, but to me definetely the first one is better, the blur at some point bothers and distracts me...

I like very much the coloring you gave it... and the bubble formed in the antique sign makes you begin to wonder what would it say....

Hi Lori, thanks for your comment, You have a point about the effect of the blur. The blur is probably the only thing that is genuine about this shot...). I used a very shallow DOF on both cameras...I think it has to do with the way I superposed the two shots. I attached the oringinals too (FYI).

I like the color tones a lot, although I liked the steel blue as well.
I think the composition is great...Probably the only thing that is the blur, to me it too quickly goes into heavy blur rather than fading gradually. :)
