About
The sun was sitting, when this scene caught my eye after an afternoon shooting inside this park area. (located near Carlton, Ga.USA) THe still waters are from the rather small South Fork River. THe sun seem to hit the trees and waters just right for a moment. I used my favorite film _KODACHROME 64 FILM ( Endangered species as I have read in various publications). A Fujica St801 camera was used with a 200mm Fujinon lens. Tripod and cable release used. This slide was scanned , but no photoshop used at all. Comments welcome-from nice to a "corny" print...
This has wonderful atmosphere. It is, as I sometimes say, a great background in search of a subject. Of course, it could be argued that a landscape needs no subject, or that the subject is the color green. Still, my eye wants to land on the foreground rowboat that isn't there! You didn't say if you scanned this yourself or had it done, but it seems to be a good scan without the loss of much detail and good d-max, too. It took me a long time to finally move to Kodachrome. When I did, it then became impractical to process without a long wait.
This is a really nice capture. I have experienced many times how hard it is to make a decent photo within a forest. All those different types of green have a tendency to make an image dull and flat. This one however turns out just great. Every tree stands out because of the light fall and even the shadows have enough defenition left, giving the whole image a delicate, serene mood. "Green" can be interesting but it's a challenge and you have to be there at the right time and in the right place. And that's what you did. Regards, Martin
