About This young family walked past me at the beach this morning. I was not able to get the shot of Big Daddy holding the umbrella, due to the position of the sun, but when they returned my way..I decided this scene would be the next best thing, lol

Hi Sam...you made me smile..no, no clouds on that day. I took this shot, late morning...and it is usually pretty clear then...but this time of year, around 2 PM, the clouds start to gather, and usually about 4 PM there is a heavy shower...and then clear for the sunset....Gloria

Lol Jim...yes, I am getting pretty good at it, but only while at the beach...I try and wait until
the person is in front of me, that way if they do catch me, it looks like I am capturing the Gulf. Just goes to show, you never, never know when big brother is watching, lol.......Gloria

Hello Orazio, thank you for your comment and thank you for sharing Maurizio, it is nice to have a face to go along with the person, that I have become friends with. I was able to also meet you after viewing your capture, when Antonella uploaded a photo. Hopefully I might be able to do the same, when a few of us are going to get together the end of August here in Venice....Gloria

'Big Daddy' seems quite apropos. There is more than meets the eye here or maybe just to me. There is fun and joy at the beach in the background with the two people happily fooling around in the water with their great big lime green floaty. Then there is Big Daddy and his family. He seems menacing not just because of his girth but the arms folded and he overshadows everyone. He is overseeing his wife and children, moving them along. His pants are rolled up to seem as if it is just a casual day at the beach but his clothing choice is out of place. The little girl is shambling along with her head so low, arms tight to her side. The wife holding the little one so close to her body and shielding herself with a colourful umbrella. This way if she glances at the beautiful water with wistfullness and longing to run in it with total abandon, her hulking husband will not see this expression. Well captured and tells quite a story.

There are always two things going on, the subject matter and then an abstract arrangement of shapes and colors. You've done them both so well here. The family outing, and also the blue, chartreuse and pink. To say nothing of the vertical figures contrastd with the horizontal beach, waves and horizon. This is a complex photo well integrated and well balanced. I'm envious.

Oh Glenn...that is the one fear I have....locking my keys in the car. It would not have been back in NY, there were hundreds of friends I could call, so when I came here...I took out a Triple A membership..and wouldn't you know it...I have never used it, lol. I was shooting the sunset at Sharky's beach tonight, and will be uploading them soon...it is a great place..natural dunes and sea grass...had a ball!!
