The colours made this shot! and composition is superb. i like strong diagonal line and player's decisive expression... very well captured. Quite natural and usual situation but it seems like some kind of performance (performance of life? ;).

Jeez, I go away for a couple of weeks and there are seemingly dozens of new Andy images waiting for me. I noticed you slowed down a lot recently. Glad to see some new stuff from you. Hope all is well.
As for this shot, it is moody and atmospheric, and the lighting is superb.

A great slice-of-life portrait of a common American scene enhanced by excellent composition.

I think this is an exceptionally dynamic photo, the yellow diagonal of arm and cue efficiently holding the eye despite the rich array of positive and negative shapes dancing all around it. One can almost hear the jukebox. I can't but be reminded of paintings of a similar subject made by my dear, departed friend, Patrick Angus.
