Don't worry, Gary, I'm not that thin-skinned. ;-) Critiques are why the photos are here, right? I think it's good to get initial reactions and then, when questions or comments are raised, do some explaining about why they were done.
I know there are things technically incorrect about the photo -- sometimes you must just "play the cards you're dealt" and get what you can. In this case, grabbing the camera, forgetting about the high-speed film, and realizing the Reala's not in the bag. ;-) This one seemed the best of the bunch.
I have a couple shots from higher, with the stems cropped out (I could just crop the bottom of this one) but the flowers seemed too detached, and more abstract. I wanted to show the contrast between the fields of color and their relationship to the ground.
Also, it was really crowded and was tough to get this shot without anyone in there.
I agree with "Sparky the Wonder Dog" ( Gary) on his comment....definitely needed to start this frame with blooms...maybe a little higher vantage point with lens tilted down....but starting the frame with blooms....nicely seen and nice capture...
