About This is a photo of a painting taken through the glass of an antique's shop in Florence.
I was fascinated by the subject.
The light you see above comes from the lamp which lights up the painting.
I was testing my new 24/120 mm VR lens to its extreme capabilities...1/10 handheld....!

Complimenti Antonella, bella composizione... Mi era un po' sfuggita, ma la trovo veramente originale ed interessante! La cornice, che di per se non mi piace, aggiunge all'insieme un'aria strana, molto gradevole...

What a beauty, che bellezza. Lovely and poetic, colori splendidi, chiarissimo, stupendo e perfetto.
Migliori auguri dalla lontana California,

Thanks for the explanation, Antonella. I didn't know what "VR" meant. Now I will look out for it. By the way, my friend Matsukawa San has a new D70 and it's a VERY nice camera. It is changing my opinion of digital cameras!

Hi Roger, many thanks for your comment. This reply is for you and for all the others who have been amazed by the fact that I shot at 1/10 handhled.
Let me explain that I don't have steady and firm hands ( the camera plus lens is also quite heavy ). IT IS THE LENS THAT ALLOWED ME and that is exactly why I bought it, having traded the same " regular " focal with this new type.
VR stands for " Vibrations'Reduction " and allows owners to use unthinkable shooting times without the tripod. I have to thank Paolo Di Maio who let me try his and when I saw what the lens was able to do I sold mine without a second thought! It's really exciting!
You can save up to 3 stops... and that's stunning!!
Besides, this allows you to save also on ISO speed in dark places or at dusk.
So the appraisal is not for me but for Nikon )
Thanks everybody!!!! Have a good day! Antonella

Excellent capture of a very very beautiful painting. The woman looks real, the ornate frame is stunning - and you managed to capture all those qualities in an expert fashion.

Great work Antonella. And now to add to your attributes, you can boast about your steady hand :-))

quadro molto interessante Antonella, magari avrei tagliato quei ghirigori in alto sopra la cornice, ma hai una mano fermissima per 1/10 di secondo senza micromosso di sorta, accidenti!!!

Fantastic! Perfect shot, sharp and crystal clear. You have caught the tones so well it would seem the woman is alive and not a picture. Nice job.
