That was a Mask that took away the background then I created a background with a color from the flower and then copied the flower onto the new background. All this was done with Paintshop PRO.....

Here it is with out any fram nor any masking. I was able the get the background to blur by using the Spot focus on my camera with my zoom.

Peter, you did a beautiful job of photographing the dahlia, but the frame is overpowering the subject. I suggest just a simple border in a color complimentary to the flower.
