Okay, here is the info on my "special tripod." The legs are Slik Pro 814 Carbon Fiber, sells at B&H Photo for US$300. The head is a Bogen/Manfrotto 3265 Grip Action with Quick Release that sells at B&H Photo for US$83.95. I have links at B&H below, but you may want to go to the Slik and Bogen sites full complete details.
The main thing that is important for me is not the particular brands, but that the legs are carbon fiber and the head is grip action ball type with quick release.
Hope this helps.

Another beautiful flower. I got a tripod long time ago but never used it with my canon. all my macro shot was taking while camera is handheld, try to use the daylight and avoid shotting at night ;-)

A swirl of pink delight, like a beautiful funnel. Amazing texture Rawabi. Whatever problems you say you had I still see a lovely macro.

If you hate using tripods, then you should choose, Canon or Olympus ,respectively, offer technologies that significantly reduce the effect of camera shake. Sigma lens, they are often either bulky or relatively slow, optical quality too,is often below what you might expect, having said that, a light tripod is essential for preventing motion blur in photos, a long with monoblocs with brolly reflectors or a soft-box. Now you have the choice, clicksssssssssss,to get better results, there is a say in Italian : You bought a bicycle ,then ride it.lol,am sure those information will give you a head age ,no problem tomorrow is holiday ,have a nice week end, Saeed

Almost an abstract! I like the colors and the veryclose-up!! Kind regards Ellen
I never use a tripod, though I have one and a small one too, should be very good for macro.

Ray sead also very impostant thing: Tripod MUST be very friendsly and easy toi use. Try ball head attachment with quick release system. It makes work so easy.

Rawabi. I'm really smiling reading your comment.... Ha-ha-ha. Do you know why? Because I LOVE tripods. And I love my heavy steal tripod most. It's like third arm holding camera while your eyes and 2 hands are doing rest of magic. (It helps me to concentrate only on composition without thinking about camera support/shutter.) Also you can get absolutelly incredible COLORS by using long shutter speed with macro + WB settings.

Very nice. The color is super and the composition just great. I have the Sigma 50mm and use a 1.4x on it often.
Hate tripods? I did too until I finally decided to step up and buy one that was truly user friendly. About 4 years ago I bought a SLIK carbon fiber (very light weight) with a Bogen pistol grip quick release head. This allows me to quickly snap the camera on and off the tripod, plus to adjust the head all I have to do is grip it and release it where I want. Never have to mess with the levers and knobs and all the stuff that I hate about tripods. Then I add a remote cord to the camers for real freedom. So, if you ever decide to "forgive" the world of tripods, let me know and I will give you the model numbers of what I have. I know that I would never use the traditional tripod and I find myself always using this set-up.

Nicely done. Yea, Macro has a narrow area of view so it can be difficult to get enough light when you are very close to the subject. Try backlighting the flowers for a really different effect and perspective - I think you will like it because it brings out the delicateness of the flower. Usually you really have to use a tripod because camera shake will quite noticable with macro (same thing with extreem telephoto).

Hi Rawabi This is great. Just when I thought you couldnt get a different flower shot, along you come. Excellent image. Macro always sucks that light up tho. When your going for large magnifications you'll find that your going to have to start using flash if you want good DOF with subjects that are moving, and even flowers move in the breeze.. Could I suggest that you throw your close up lens away. I never ever use close up lenses or tele-convertors as they always degrade the image. Your lens cost say $500 and your close up filter cost $20. Put the close up filter on your lens and youve got a $20 macro lens! ;)
