Great shot of Jan...cycling is another one of my passions...I'm looking forward to seeing Jan and Lance in the Tour de France this summer...I was a competitive cyclist for 15 years...

Dear Kristina, you are right in evaluating the picture without the fame factor. I love the strong expression on his face as well.
As for background: Jan Ullrich is the only German that won the Tour de France (the most famous round tour) - so he's quite famous at least in Germany or among the bicycle enthusiasts =)

I think the second attached photo is better as "sport photo" with action feeling. But the first photo is better as a showing of person (famous or not famous) and face expression.
I'm not much into sports, so I have no idea how famous or not famous he is. But I like that interesting face expression of suffering, strong will and strenght.

Hi Thilo, Good to see you try different things too! Difficult shot, but a good capture. I only think it is a bit too closely cropped, especially on the left and lower side. I think a landscape format, zooming out a bit, could've increased the feeling of speed and the thrill of the race. I'm in doubt wether it's important to actually see the tire touching the asphalt, as that would create more of an overview, but in the current presentation, I think Jan's left leg is a bit too closely cropped (so a tad more room on the right would also work, IMO). The perspective, created by the guy in the inside turn, partially obscured by Ullrich is excellent, though.

hi, i don't do these type of shots,so can't help with the technicals..but seems like you did a good job as he is focused/DOF is very good and the sense of fast movement is shown by the blurred wheel spokes..i do think the cropping is too tight and more room to the left in front of bikes would strengthen the moving forward idea..regards,gayle (appreciate your recent comments/encouragement,Thilo)
