Hi Alan. I like to combine different looks and styles to create a personal look. Together we picked the clothes and the accessories. She actually owns the cookie monster socks :-)
Cheers

Very nice vivid, fun photo. Did you have all that stuff laying around, or did she? I would probably have a hard time finding a fashion portrait with more colors in it. I also appreciated the setup info. I have the 10d, can I borrow the rest from you(model included)?

This is such a fun shot P [I love the cookie monster socks!!]
im*H*o, the model looks maybe a little old to be in such a "teenage gossip queen" feel of a photo.. Other than that though, it's a great idea.

Hi Mike, thanx for the comment.
Here is a photo of the setup I was using for this shot.
The left and right soft boxes are 800W each. The left one was -5 f-stops, the right one, at -2 f-stops, the off-center umbrella on the boom stand, as you can see, a little bit from the top, is a 1600W flash head at half power and -3 f-stops.
This shot was done at 1/125 F8.0 and ISO 100. I never use anything higher than ISO 100. I prefer to compensate with shutter speed and F-stop combos and/or light power. I like the silky softness of the Canon at 100... The lens is a Canon 17-40mm L series and this shot was at 23mm (36.8 equivalent on a 35mm camera) THe L series is the best from Canon, distinguishable by the red ring around the front of the lens.
I hope this helps. I wish all photographers posted their tricks and techniques in lighting. Seeing the actual work space helps a lot, specially for placement and light adjustment.
But remember that all projects have a different need. I change positions and power on-the-fly, to get the results I want, which I see immediately on my 20" TV on the wall... It also helps the models to get into it and see how beautiful they look right away.
All the best to u. Keep playing :-)
Pat

Very retroesque this one, would look great in a sort of ektachrome saturation.
