About 'Charles'(not real name is a chap that I bump into on a regular basis while I am out & about.
He does not beg - EVER! And will not take anything off people (no food nor money and believe me I have tried to on many occasions he just will not!)
And instead prefers to take his dinners out of dumpsters and dust bins.
He has a mental illness yet I have never seen a care worker nor outreach officer check on him, he really is alone in this world and often when I see him he appears to carry a great suffering with him - I hope to break through his barriers one day, enough so that I may help him but until then I will just have to watch and learn from him.

Regards

Hugh,

Your photos are a true inspiration.

This one gives me strong feelings.

It is disgusting. Truly sickening, the way "society" disregards and treats people considered to be "non-citizens". I mean, these days if one doesn't produce or consume one has no worth.

Your photos are great, of course, and the montage is worthy of a great pictorial spread.

First of all, thanks for your comment one one of my pictures. I'm always interested who is behind a feedback and browsed your portfolio. You have some awesome stuff. This is "reality street photography", IMHO.
This one really touched me, because the same "scene" happened a few months in SF right before my eyes.
Very, very strong portraits. Fantastic work.
Regards! Carlheinz

Wonderful sequence, Hugh. The pictures only would've told a story, but then you complement it with your words. All is great here. Congrats.

What a touching story...and such excellent work...This is something that happens everywhere and it speaks volumes on why mental illness medical care has huge holes in the system for people like this that need help. Heartbreaking...your a kind person to even take the time to notice.

To all the above (friends)

I thank you all for the time you spend viewing my images and commenting too!
The stories I tell in my pictures are of lives I feel would otherwise go un-noticed so it is for this reason that I am compelled to drive myself to show the world the beauty within the dark and hope that by seeing the stories it may somehow help

Una foto fuerte en todo aspecto, tecnicamente excelente y muy bien presentada y emocionalmente como todos tus trabajos, siempre con un mensaje.
La miseria , esta vez en fotos, el hambre de muchos. Muy buen trabajo Hugh.
