Audrey, please don't be so cautious, it makes me feel that you don't even say half of what you think. The "shot" was good but hard to make. I thought the tormented and foamy waters would stand both in hard contrast with the man's stillness and evoke perhaps his wandering mind. But your comments make sense. I've tried another crop, square, with only the first turmoil in. It works very well, but alas, some technical flaws are starting to show through. You notice the high shutter speed ? It was so windy I couldn't avoid the telephoto lens extended at its max (300 mm) to shake ont the tripod. Adversely, the DOF is minimal - you noted that the foreground rock was out of focus, but so is the man, and it becomes too obvious with a more severe crop. Oh then, I guess I'll have to store it in the "so-so shot" drawer.

Sorry Christian I'm going to be difficult here with my 2cents worth - don't hate me :) The composition overall is really unusual. 'Good shot' which we nowadays use for 'fun' but in this case I mean. However I feel the upper white waves takes the eye away from the main subject, it also gives too busy a feel to the overall image. The man and the middle big splash is plenty strong enough imho. The foreground rocks could be slightly sharper (at least looks that way on my screen).

Outstanding composition. If you're going to Medi-tate, it looks like a perfect spot. Looks like some ice left out there? The foreground just a little soft, maybe I'd have cropped a little more out.

My first thought was that the man is having a very lively dream in which he's driving a car :-)
What strikes me as a very positive feature of this photograph are the colours. They are in such neat harmony here: rock and shoes, trousers and hair, water and the sweater. Yet in spite of the similarity between subject and background tones, the man stands out well against the sea, thanks to the sun shining on him. The white foam at the top works nicely to 'close' the frame.

nice scenery here like it, the wild mood and the quiet pose of the man, may be the focus seems not to be centered right on the man but on some part of the white foam in the upper waters

*Grin* Very cool shot, and a great contrast between the peace of mind and the crashing waves. Well composed, and a very appropriate title.... Great capture!
