Chris, I laid the eggs directly on the scanner, then put the bowl on top, so as for a bowl,,,,But it never hurts to try. I've been off the internet for over a day now..those..but have been outside doing "egg" photos all afternoon with different lighting, apertures, and indoors, same thing, been going over my notes, and will see.. my last attempt was a disaster, I think this will give me experience with lighting tho.
Debbie - Really a nice image - almost surreal. I've never thought about using a scanner directly. Wonder if you could actually use auxillary lighting as well? Also wonder if some of the sliced fruit photos shown recently would be rendered equally as wonderful directly on a scanner - but with additional back lighting.
Good thinking.

I really like this one. I think it's one of the more interesting images in the egg series thus far. The light is good (not that you had much control over it), but the key thing is the contrast between the oval shape and the round shape of the container. Well done.
First of all, Thanks for not kicking me off...Robert for your help on the birds, I told Robert in a year from now we'll be competing. Altaf, being director of this wonderful site, your comment really let me know just how much you really care about the members, how kind, open minded, and encouraging you really are. You just don't know how this makes us feel. Then to Artie, You've been faithful from the very beginning as a "teacher" for me and haven't given up yet. I truly appreciate it. As for my egg project, I had sat an egg on a tripod and used another tripod, but was indoors, and was using fuji 200 slide, f/22, one with flash one without, can anyone guess the results? (Flourescent lighting) I did the "tripod" thing for Gary. Anyway, the results....I was whining and crying and I told Paul I wonder if I have any pictures of any eggs anywhere I could scan to the computer and work with in Photoshop...He said Why don't you try to scan some eggs, we did this very, very, very carefuly and the egss by themselves was the first result, the rest I just looked around and found this and that...The little space man I found in the parking lot at work laying face down, decided to pick him up and take him home for photography purposes. What did he fall off of? Well I saved him....I just laid him gently on my scanner and put the egg next to him, all that touched was his feet, looks like he's jumping again...I saved him tho again. I was afraid I might get kicked off...but alas you all are so wonderful and encouraging that yes I still have my camera and look at it like anything else, reading, writing and arithmetic only way way way more fun....):), ):), ):), ):)The butterfly one is for composition purposes. By the way, Vlad, if that was you, just for the record I work in a resaraunt, and had you landed rigthly, you coulda come on in and I woulda served you some eggs, bacon and biscuits and gravy, just for your effort. Like grits? we got them to.
I'll comment on this one for the series.....firstly you didnt cheat..you used the scanner as the camera...nicely done Debbie...but now you opened up pandoras box....think of how the scanner works...light....now you must duplicate all five using the camera with film but duplicate the lighting as the scanner did it.......you can do it Debbie
