In contrast to theirs, this Buddhist statue is au naturale, made from single granite stone and erected on rock of gibralter, in the placid waters of the Hussain Sagar, Hyderabad, India. My home town!! It is one of the tallest standing monoliths of the world, standing 72 feet-tall.
The monolithic statue was chiselled out of a white granite rock, weighing 450 tons. It was carved by 200 sculptors for two years. After the intial problems, the statue was erected on 12th April 1992 on a red coloured Lotus pedestral.
I wonder what is the fascination with Buddha in Hydrabad. Do they have many buddhist there? Is this the same statue which fell into the water(if memory is correct) while errecting? Regards, ken.
It's a nice composition but you should of focus on the statue rather then the branch. I would get the branch out of the poicture completely. Keep up the good work Kevin
