I feel that the starkness of the white blanket it overpowering the nice shadow detail of your dog... I would agree to cropping most of the white blanket out so that we can focus on your dog. As well, I feel that the abrupt cut off at the dogs forelegs is a bit distracting... he feels incomplete. Since he/she will pose for you, I would encourage you to try this again to make your dog the focus. I know it's hard sometimes to make them cooperate, but this has so much potential, that I think it's worth a try!
don't change a thing. the fuzzy background is what gives the harsh lighting a bit of softness... it's a great shot! i wish i could get any of my 3 dogs to hold still for even half a second for a good picture like this! very beautiful!
